Překladatelské středisko pro instituce Evropské unie je agenturou Evropské unie a bylo zřízeno v roce 1994 v Lucemburku. Jeho hlavním posláním je poskytovat překladatelské a související jazykové služby ostatním decentralizovaným agenturám EU. Může rovněž vypomáhat orgánům a institucím EU, které mají své vlastní překladatelské služby, a to v případě jejich vysokého pracovního vytížení nebo v rámci konkrétních projektů. Celkem středisko poskytuje překlady téměř 70 zákazníkům. Na konci roku 2020 mělo celkem 220 zaměstnanců (úředníků, dočasných zaměstnanců a smluvních zaměstnanců). VÍCE INFORMACÍ

Our director recently spoke at the LT4All 2025 conference in Paris. She addressed the conference theme, ‘Advancing Humanism through Language Technologies’, by discussing the role of AI in translation, emphasising that human expertise remains vital for quality assurance. This year marks a significant milestone for the European Union as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ‘big bang’ enlargement, which introduced nine new languages into the EU arena. Translation Centre Director, Ildikó Horváth, recently attended the KCI conference on 26 September, where she engaged in a lively panel discussion about the transformative changes required in translation and interpretation to support this multilingual landscape.

The Translation Centre was delighted to welcome four new clients to its community in 2023 and 2024: the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC), the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking (JU) and the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU).
