On 5 December 2018, the Translation Centre organised a high-profile event in Luxembourg to showcase the brand-new version of the EU terminology database IATE, which was enjoyed by around 300 people from various institutions who gathered to mark the occasion. The half-day event was also followed via live webstream by many interested members of the public.
The Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) of the European Commission staged its 5th Translation Europe Forum in Brussels on 8-9 November 2018. About 500 stakeholders from the translation community (language service providers, producers of translation tools, academics, researchers, university students, etc.) attended this event, which focused on ‘translation in the age of data’.
On 1 October 2018, Dr Doris Wohlschlägl-Aschberger, a banking expert and lawyer of 40 years’ experience, gave two information sessions at the Translation Centre on financial instruments and the challenges of the financial supervisory mechanisms. About 40 in-house translators attended and had these financial concepts explained to them.
The translation services of the EU institutions are pleased to announce the release today of a brand-new version of the EU terminology database IATE (InterActive Terminology for Europe). IATE is a joint project of the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Central Bank, the European Court of Auditors, the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Committee of the Regions, the European Investment Bank and the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union.
